Step 11 offers several forms of service to those who wish to get more involved, even if for only one Sunday Celebration. We've listed several types of service opportunities below, and suggest you skim over SERVICE GUIDELINES before jumping into service, just so you'll know if service here is a good fit for you.
Performers/Musicians
If you have a talent you would like to share, speak up! Contact us and let us know so we can arrange for you to express that talent at our Sunday Service.
Greeters
Greeters are here to welcome everyone as they enter, hand out the bulletin, direct them if needed, and to answer general questions. Greeters should arrive no later than 30 minutes before the start of the event (Sunday Service starts at 7pm, so you would need to be there no later than 6:30pm). At that time, we will have a quick prayer circle with all other people in service.
Set-up & Take-down
The set up crew makes certain that chairs are ready, piano is in place, sound equipment is on, and that the podium is in place. You will also set up the refreshment table, make coffee, hot water for tea, and in general, make sure everything is ready to go on time.
After the event is over, your job is to take down whatever needs to be taken down, clean up garbage, do dishes and put them away, and make sure nothing has been left unfinished.
You will be the first to arrive (along with the ministers), and the last to leave (along with the ministers). We ask that you arrive 1 hour before an event begins, and that you stay until all is put away. (Sunday Service begins at 7pm, so you will arrive at 6pm. The ministers will already be there for the 6pm Spiritual Study). 30 minutes before the event, we'll hold a short prayer circle with all people in service.
Announcements
Announcers get up and make the announcements during the event. (We don't expect you to be another Walter Cronkite, so don't fret about it!). You'll arrive 30 minutes before an event begins, take part in the short prayer circle, and be handed the announcements to read at the appointed time during the event.
