Thoughts for the Month

YOM KIPPUR
Yom Kippur is the Jewish holiday that sets the stage of intent for the New Year. It's known as the Day of Atonement, and observant Jews around the world make this a day of fasting, prayer, making amends for wrongs done, and asking forgiveness. It ends with a festive feast 24 hours later. Yom Kippur is considered a "High Holiday," as is Rosh Hashana, the Jewish new year that takes place 8 days earlier.

These days remind us that personal inventory is an ongoing process, and must be followed by action to right ourselves with our fellow human beings.

COLUMBUS DAY
What an incredible risk-taker! Can you imagine the faith this man had to have to be so sure he would not fall off the end of the earth? He is a way-shower for the rest of us. Take some time to think about his three ships: the Nina, Pinta & Santa Maria. Which one of them would you choose to board and why? (Hint: try googling each of them online, and see if you can find out what their names mean).
